SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for driving productivity and quality improvements through planning, managing, optimizing processes, streamlining flow of equipment and material, identification and implementation of advanced equipment technologies and automation, etc. across all processes of manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality performance.
- Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed the manufacturing process.
- Creates and implements work instructions per department, working with the management team and operators to ensure accurate information.
- Creates, reviews, and updates engineering drawings, specifications, and supporting documents to verify the manufacturability of parts and adherence to company or industry standards.
- Uses AutoCAD/SolidWorks and sketches to create accurate drawings within the required timeframe.
- Review and calculate labor, material, and other production costs, along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision-making.
- Ensures that Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) and Process Change Requests (PCR’s) are imported and updated accurately and timely to ensure consistency throughout production.
- Performs capability and time studies to quantify processing times and identifies areas for process improvements.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure the manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed to keep production equipment operational.
- Assist in hands-on training of employees when implementing new work instructions, visual aids, or standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that the company’s manufacturing processes comply with all government laws and regulations.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Adhere to all Jor-Mac and OSHA safety-related work rules and procedures.
- Optimize facility layout to improve product flow efficiency.
- Facilitate project management for New Product Introduction & Process Improvement.
- Determine capital expenditure needs to drive operational efficiencies, and lead project planning and execution.
- Evaluate vendor proposals for equipment purchases.
- Create packaging procedures and instructions.
- Lead or participate in lean/kaizen events.
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes (fab, welding, powder paint, machining, assembly) to increase production rates and improve first-pass yield.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
- HS diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering is preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of using an ERP system.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with aggressive deadlines.
- Solid AutoCAD/ SolidWorks skills.
- Ability to read prints and layout diagrams.
- Strong organizational skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing.
- Demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Customer service oriented; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships and drive teamwork.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills, highly detail oriented.
- Capable of taking a project lead role in a fast-moving continuous improvement environment.
- Knowledge of equipment for purchase, installation, and repair.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to require to sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to walk and continuously stand. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
