Senior‑level commercial underwriting role for an experienced professional who can independently underwrite complex risks while acting as a technical and consultative resource. This position offers strong autonomy, agency interaction, and strategic influence within an assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently underwrite and price complex commercial risks within established authority
- Analyze financials, loss history, inspections, and market data to support underwriting decisions
- Serve as a technical advisor to underwriting peers, sales teams, and agency partners
- Build and maintain strong agency relationships and support complex negotiations
- Manage territory portfolio performance and new business production
- Monitor market trends and contribute to underwriting strategy and innovation
- Mentor and share expertise to support team development
- Bachelor’s degree required; insurance designations (CPCU, ARM, etc.) preferred
- 3–8 years of commercial underwriting experience, including complex accounts
- Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills
- Ability to operate independently with advanced underwriting authority
- Willingness to travel regularly within assigned territory
