As a Senior Commercial Underwriter, you will:
- Independently underwrite and price complex commercial risks within your established authority.
- Analyze financial statements, loss history, inspections, and market data to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Serve as a technical advisor to underwriting peers, sales teams, and agency partners, providing expert guidance and support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners, supporting complex negotiations and fostering collaboration.
- Manage the performance of your assigned territory portfolio, ensuring profitability and driving new business production.
- Monitor market trends and contribute to the development of innovative underwriting strategies.
- Mentor and share expertise with team members to support their professional growth and development.
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:
- A bachelor’s degree (required); professional insurance designations such as CPCU or ARM are highly preferred.
- 3–8 years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on complex accounts.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on data and market insights.
- Excellent consultative and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Proven ability to operate independently and exercise advanced underwriting authority.
- Willingness to travel regularly within your assigned territory.
