Job Description

One of the leading brokerages in the industry is looking for a leader for their Commercial Lines division after a long tenured employee is retiring. P&C License and insurance industry experience is required.

POSITION: Assistant Vice President (Team Leader)

POSITION REPORTS TO: P&C Practice Leader

LOCATION: Nassau County, NY

Purpose: To drive a culture of success through efficient processes and teammate engagement with the technician team in order to provide quality customer service and meet retention goals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Establish, direct and monitor unit goals and objectives that are in alignment with the department strategy and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Regularly evaluate and identify short-term recruitment needs and strategies to retain top talent for the unit.
  • Develop an onboarding curriculum for new teammates to ensure successful acclimation to the profit center and clear understanding of the defined processes and procedures.
  • Identify areas of inefficiencies and develop ongoing training plans for technician teammates incorporating the use of internal and external resources.
  • Supervise, train, and develop the capabilities of the team in a manner that enhances their professional development and the profit center’s level of service to clients.
  • Review and prepare monthly analyses to measure teammates progress in achieving unit objectives.
  • Ensure that systems, procedures, and insurance company regulations are adhered to.
  • Promote collaboration between the unit and service department to deliver an exceptional customer experience and improve efficiencies and streamline processes.
  • Maximize use of the agency management system and technology through regular training.
  • Promote teamwork, support, knowledge sharing and a positive attitude in the department and office.
  • Promote a commitment to achieve or exceed internal performance standards.
  • Participate in training opportunities to remain current on industry information, new product development, legislation, coverages, and technology including professional development and continuing education required for valid licensing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience And Knowledge

  • Valid Property & Casualty Producers License.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverages, contracts, and state regulations where business is conducted.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Windows environment, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher. Able to create, edit, and merge letters, spreadsheets, labels, etc.
  • Proficient knowledge use of office equipment (including but not limited to copy machines, printers, faxes, binding machine, etc.)
  • 7 years’ experience in the insurance industry, or a related field.

Preferred

  • College Degree in a business-related field.
  • Insurance Designation (CIC, CPCU).
