What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, IT Strategy and Delivery | Enterprise Applications position at The Jackson Laboratory?
We’re looking for a strategic and collaborative leader to join our team as Director of Information Technology Strategy and Delivery. In this role, you’ll oversee multiple functional areas to ensure Enterprise IT initiatives are executed effectively and aligned with organizational goals. You’ll bring strong planning, project leadership, and team management skills to deliver impactful solutions that support business priorities. This position reports to the Senior Director of Enterprise Services and works closely with cross-functional partners to drive enterprise-wide success.
This is a remote position within the U.S. Up to 20% domestic and international travel is expected annually, depending on business need and project demands.
What You'll Contribute
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure technology initiatives align with the organization's overall business goals and objectives.
- Lead and manage a team of technology professionals across several functional areas, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of technology projects - ensuring they meet their business objectives and are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop and champion a strategic technology vision that aligns with JAX's mission, incorporating comprehensive industry and functional insights. Identify and map out business needs, proactively introducing innovative ideas and anticipating future trends to drive the organization forward.
- Continuously improve internal processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in technology delivery.
- Ensure that all technology solutions meet high standards of quality, performance, and security.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation within the organization.
- Manage budgets for technology projects and software licensing, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost-effective delivery.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with technology projects, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure successful delivery of services and drive continuous improvement.
- Identify and prioritize value creation opportunities (e.g. tech modernization and currency) based on detailed assessment and analysis of current technology footprint.
What You're Good At
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in software delivery, with a strong foundation in enterprise application configuration, development and implementation.
- At least 6 years of leadership experience managing cross-functional technology teams and driving successful strategic initiatives.
- Proven expertise in technology management, including strategic planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement across complex environments.
- Deep understanding of technology solutions, development processes, and best practices.
- Experience leading and serving as product owner of projects of varying size and complexity.
- Ability to influence and foster buy-in at all levels.
- Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and listening to various levels across the organization.
- Ability to gain a broad understanding of overall software delivery roadmaps and related strategies.
- Working knowledge of Agile Frameworks, preferably Scrum and/or SAFe.
The salary range is $136,461 - $228,467. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.
