Phlebotomy/EKG Supervisor

Position Overview

The Phlebotomy/EKG Supervisor at Jackson Clinic is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the phlebotomy and EKG departments. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring adherence to protocols, maintaining high standards of patient care, and managing equipment and documentation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, technical proficiency, and a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.

Supervisor Responsibilities and Leadership

• Supervise daily phlebotomy and EKG staff, including scheduling and conducting performance evaluations.
• Act as a liaison between patients, staff, and management to facilitate communication and resolve issues.
• Ensure staff compliance with established protocols and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Handle disciplinary actions as needed and assist in the hiring and onboarding of new staff members.

Technical Skills and Patient Care

• Perform venous and capillary blood draws on patients of all age groups with accuracy and care.
• Conduct EKG testing and Holter monitor procedures following clinical guidelines.
• Verify patient identity and ensure proper specimen labeling to maintain specimen integrity.
• Provide clear patient instructions and ensure safety in the handling of sharps and medical equipment.

Equipment Maintenance and Documentation

• Maintain and troubleshoot EKG and Holter monitoring equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry into electronic medical records (EMR).
• Order and review lab tests, demonstrating understanding of relevant billing codes.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year experience in phlebotomy and EKG procedures.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
