Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Posting Specialist to support a high-volume revenue cycle team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accurate and timely application of payments across multiple sources, directly supporting the organization’s financial integrity and patient account accuracy.
You will work closely with internal teams to reconcile payments, resolve discrepancies, and maintain clean, compliant patient account records. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare payment posting processes, including working with remittances and explanation of benefits (EOBs).
Key Responsibilities
Accurately post payments and adjustments from electronic remittances, EOBs, paper checks, and patient payments
Reconcile daily payment activity in alignment with established processes and controls
Research and resolve payment discrepancies, including occasional outreach to insurance carriers
Maintain clean and accurate patient account records, updating demographic and billing information as needed
Prioritize daily work to meet productivity and turnaround time expectations
Support charge posting functions as needed to ensure team coverage
Respond to internal inquiries, emails, and limited external communication in a timely and professional manner
Adhere to HIPAA standards and maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information
Key Requirements
3–5 years of healthcare payment posting or medical billing experience
Hands-on experience working with EOBs, remittances, and insurance payments
Familiarity with revenue cycle processes and payer guidelines (CMS, commercial insurance)
Experience with practice management systems such as NextGen or similar platforms
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in high-volume environments
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet productivity standards
Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working onsite in a team-based setting
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
Preferred: Experience in ophthalmology or surgical billing environments
