Position Summary:
The Medical Payment Poster will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate posting of payments received from insurance companies and patients. The position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Position requires accuracy, thoroughness, and a good understanding of insurance procedures for referrals, co-pays, deductibles, allowable, CPT codes and Dx codes.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately post payments received from insurance companies and patients into the billing system
- Review payment information to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies
- Work with insurance companies to resolve payment issues and discrepancies
- Update patient accounts with payment information and communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances
- Research and resolve any payment posting errors or discrepancies
- Assist with other billing tasks as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and practice information at all times
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business or related field preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical payment posting or medical billing
- Experience with billing and payment posting software, specifically NextGen preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and insurance billing processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve issues effectively

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- In office environment with controlled atmosphere. Possible exposure to staff or patients with communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens.
