Role Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical Cost Analyst / AR Analyst to support a growing accounting function with a focus on cost recovery, discrepancy analysis, and process improvement. This role plays a key part in identifying financial variances and driving resolution strategies that directly impact the organization’s bottom line.
In this position, you will investigate discrepancies across systems, partner with internal teams and external vendors, and uncover opportunities for cost recovery. You will also contribute to building and refining processes in an evolving environment where structure is still being defined.
Key Responsibilities
• Compare and reconcile financial data across multiple internal systems
• Investigate discrepancies, variances, and exceptions to identify root causes
• Analyze large datasets to detect trends and financial irregularities
• Support vendor cost recovery efforts and identify reimbursement opportunities
• Communicate directly with external vendors to resolve discrepancies and drive outcomes
• Perform advanced data analysis using Excel and reporting tools
• Assist in developing and documenting new accounting processes and procedures
• Collaborate with accounting, operations, and business teams on process improvement initiatives
Key Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Experience in accounting, accounts receivable, cost accounting, financial analysis, or similar analytical roles
• Advanced Excel skills, including working with large data sets and complex functions
• Exposure to ERP systems and experience reconciling data across multiple platforms
• Experience in cost accounting, retail accounting, or financial analysis preferred
• Familiarity with SQL, including reading queries and running existing reports, preferred
• Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in evolving environments with strong communication and collaboration skills
