Position Summary:
The Innovative CPA Group is one of the fastest growing firms in Connecticut, and we are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Billing Manager to join our CPA firm in Shelton, CT. This role will support the firm’s billing function, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient processing of client invoices. The ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to billing, including reviewing work in process (WIP) and identifying opportunities to bill. Prior billing experience, preferably within a professional services or accounting environment, and hands-on experience with CCH systems are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and process client invoices in a timely and accurate manner
- Proactively review WIP to identify billing opportunities and help drive timely invoicing
- Partner with partners, managers, and staff to move engagements forward and convert WIP to billings
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure billing accuracy and completeness
- Maintain and update billing records within the CCH system
- Review engagement details, time entries, and expenses to ensure proper billing treatment
- Identify and resolve billing discrepancies or respond to client billing inquiries
- Assist in improving billing processes and overall efficiency
- Generate billing reports and support month-end close activities
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and client-specific billing requirements
Qualifications:
- 2 years of billing experience, preferably within a CPA firm or professional services environment
- Experience with CCH software (strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- High level of accuracy and accountability
- Comfortable working with technology and learning new systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
