A day in the life
You arrive with a plan: review the local maintenance schedule, prep parts and tools, and ensure critical equipment is mission-ready. A tug rolls in with an electrical issue—using manuals, schematics, and meters, you diagnose the fault and resolve it within the expected timeframe. Between scheduled inspections and an unscheduled hydraulic leak, you update digital maintenance records, coordinate with operations, and keep the fleet dependable for the next push.

What you’ll do
- Own local maintenance scheduling and performance to maximize equipment dependability.
- Perform the full scope of skilled maintenance work following recognized procedures.
- Read and apply maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
- Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems and resolve them within established timeframes.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records; conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections on equipment.
What you’ll bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to speak and hear efficiently.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Knowledge of fluid types and diesel-powered machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and carry out instructions in English; able to verbally direct in English.
- Tact and professionalism when dealing with employees and client representatives at all levels.
- Proven experience with standard and specialty tools and specialized testing equipment (photo tachometer, diagnostic tools and hardware, scanners, meters).
- Valid driver’s license.
Tools: Bring your own basic set (sockets/wrenches) up to 1" in size and up to 1/2" drive.
Work environment
Physically strenuous setting with prolonged standing; exposure to noise (sometimes excessive), safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, and heavy moving equipment.
Physical demands
- Use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; speaking and hearing efficiently.
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
