What We Have for You! Be prepared for the summer of a lifetime! Spend your days among 30 acres of beautiful forest while creating endless opportunities for campers with disabilities to live their best life! You’ll build lifelong friendships with fellow counselors as you work as a team to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all our campers with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and/or developmental disabilities.
Why We Need You! The ITC Kitchen Crew is an integral part of our camp experience! You’ll have the opportunity to be part of the success of the ITC dining hall by creating wonderful meals for campers and staff throughout the summer.
A Day in the Life! As a member of our kitchen crew, you’ll start each day getting breakfast ready for our campers and staff! Between meals, you will prep for the next meal or take a break and enjoy programming with our campers! After a delicious dinner and clean up, you’ll end your days with a campfire or evening events under the stars!
Living Requirements - Optional
- Summer Camp season runs for 10 weeks, from May to August with sessions beginning on Sunday afternoon and ending on Friday afternoon – time to enjoy your weekend away to relax!
- As the kitchen crew, living here at camp for summer camp is preferred but not required
- All housing and meals are included for you!
What We Expect From You!
- Oversee food operation in absent of Head Chef.
- Assist in preparing the buffet at the ITC dining hall for each meal, food preparation, serving meals to campers, and post-meal clean up.
- Preparing food/snacks for special events, day camp, overseeing the buffet line and beverage station.
- Role model a kitchen culture that is respectful, clean and in compliance with Department of Health Code and Summer Camp Safety Plan
- Work collaboratively with the Camp Director and Camp Kitchen Manager for special needs/requests
- Cleaning duties may include – dishwashing, cleaning tables, emptying trash, before, during, and after meals, including dishes and clean up.
What Do You Need to Qualify?
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have related cooking experience
- Serv Safe is a plus
- Must have a high level of patience and be willing to work hard
- Must be a positive role model for all and be willing to work hard
- Able to lift at least a 30-pound box
- Able to follow directions
Position Information:
Job Type: Seasonal
Pay: Varied based on schedule availability, experience, etc.
Hours: Kitchen Crew members will typically work 8 - 10 hours each day.
Time off: Kitchen Crew will have one day off per session, plus the weekends. Regular Time Off policies do not apply to a staff member that becomes sick or injured and is removed from the program for a period of time.
Staff Training: All staff are paid for this fun, exciting, information-packed training in which all Kitchen Crew are oriented to ITC and their specific roles and responsibilities in the dining hall. The Kitchen Crew will be part of an orientation group and participate in additional staff orientation activities.
