What are the responsibilities and job description for the Breakfast Attendant position at The Independence Hotel?
The Breakfast Attendant functions as a 'service ambassador' for the hotel, by greeting and engaging each guest who enters the dining area and ensuring that their breakfast experience is welcoming, positive and satisfying, and executed well. The Breakfast Attendant will set up, prepare, and re-stock the daily breakfast while maintaining the highest standards of the guest experience, organization, cleanliness, and safety. Must be able to lift at least 25lbs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The position requires the ability to perform the following essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Set up, maintain, and clean breakfast buffet area
- Ensure that all food and beverage items are stocked and displayed attractively
- Welcome guests in a friendly, helpful manner and provide information about breakfast options
- Serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to guests
- Monitor food and beverage inventory levels and report any shortages or quality issues to supervisor
- Remove dirty dishes and trash from tables and overall breakfast area
- Keep breakfast area clean and organized throughout breakfast hours
- Assist in breakfast preparation and cooking as needed
- Follow food safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
HOURS AND ATTENDANCE
- Between 30-35 hours per week, this includes, weekends, holidays, and there may be overtime if it is essential to business needs. Standard work hours are from 6am to 12pm.
- Regular and predictable attendance in conformance with the Hotel’s standards, as may be established from time to time, is an essential job function.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS OF POSITION, INCLUDING THE ENVIRONMENT
- Must work well alone, unsupervised and can work harmoniously with co‐workers.
- Must exhibit positive interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs.
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations and to access
- Must be able to frequently move freely about the lobby and kitchen.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures including safety procedures and local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- OSHA laws require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties
- Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS
The individual holding this position must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States, including High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to listen effectively and to speak English clearly to communicate with customers and team members.
- All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance
- Must have or obtain a food handlers card
