Financial Controller

The Controller will lead the company’s accounting and financial management functions overseeing all accounting operations including financial reporting and providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Manage all day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions within the company’s accounting system.
• Maintain the integrity of financial data and ensure proper documentation for all financial activities.
• Oversee reconciliation of accounts, bank statements, and financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership review.
• Analyze financial results and provide insight into key trends, variances, and operational performance.
• Provide financial reports and data that support informed decision-making by leadership.
• Ensure financial reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with generally accepted accounting principles.

Cash Flow & Financial Management

• Monitor company cash flow and maintain visibility into the organization’s financial position.
• Assist leadership in planning and managing financial resources to support operational needs.
• Ensure proper financial controls are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain financial discipline.
• Coordinate with external accounting firms, tax professionals, or auditors when necessary.
• Provide insight into operational costs and opportunities for improved financial efficiency.

Strategic Financial Support

• Work closely with the President to support budgeting, financial planning, and business strategy.
• Assist with financial forecasting and long-term financial planning.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Support leadership in evaluating financial risks and opportunities related to business growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
• Prior Controller or senior accounting experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and financial reporting systems.
• Experience in food manufacturing, food distribution, or inventory-based businesses preferred.
• Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a small business environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
