Bartender - The Terrace at The Hollywood Grande
Job Summary: Bartenders are professional, have a high energy, and exhibit excellent communication skills to serve our beverages and cocktails to our guests. The bartender will greet guests, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food. They will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment, and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties. Bartenders need to have a neat appearance, engaging, friendly personality, and should be observant, efficient, knowledgeable, and personable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent, friendly, courteous, and professional service to all internal and external guests, in every interaction.
- Know signs of any overly intoxicated guests and provide safe and responsible beverage service.
- Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness and safety of work area/assigned station and the establishment.
- Respond to guests requests in an accurate and timely manner, creating a positive outcome that will result in a memorable experience.
- Proper handling of VIPs, recognize repeat guests, and protect their privacy and confidentiality.
- Perform accurate cash/credit handling and POS procedures in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Greet guests upon them sitting or approaching the bar area.
- Provide guests a complete introduction and a menu tour.
- Prepare all alcoholic and N/A beverages for guests at both the bar as well as guests in the restaurant using correct recipes, garnishes, and glassware.
- Maintain the quality of the food, beverages, and restaurant by performing frequent checks.
- Assist in bussing, cleaning, and resetting the bar top when appropriate.
- At the conclusion of the guests’ visit, drop the check and process payment.
- Restock and maintain par levels of all beverages needed for service.
- Assists in all beverage inventories.
- Communicates with MOD for 86’d items during each shift.
- Assist other FOH team members during busy or peak times
- Perform other tasks as requested by management.
Skills / Experience:
- 2 years previous high-end restaurant or hotel experience
- Must have a current California Food Handlers certification and RBS training certification
- Cicerone certification a plus
- Expertise in Alcohol and cocktail making in high volume environments
- Amari and Grappa knowledge a plus
- Excellent listener & communicator
- Ability to focus on guest interaction and multitask
- Team player and able to anticipate others needs
- Understands sequence of service and coursing
- Has worked with Micros or an equivalent POS station
- Positive attitude
- Must have flexible availability, including weekends, late night hours, and holidays
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
- Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
