What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Support for Volunteer Program Optimization position at The Healthcare Navigation Project?
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
Our organization needs some short-term help: A three-week volunteer coordinator will update volunteer onboarding materials, review and refresh project boards, coordinate current volunteers, identify gaps in volunteer coverage, and assist in preparing and submitting session/project requests to Taproot to fill identified holes. Details will be provided during interviews.
Strengthening onboarding and project coordination will increase our ability to support youth and underserved communities with health literacy and mental health life-skills. Clearer volunteer systems will reduce service gaps, boost program capacity, and help the organization better empower people to navigate and self-advocate in healthcare.
Details will be provided. We will share current volunteer lists and access to project boards during onboarding, make staff available for brief check-ins, and collaborate with the volunteer to prioritize gaps. The volunteer's updated onboarding and board changes will be handed off to staff for implementation.
The Healthcare Navigation Project Mission: The Healthcare Navigation Project is an independent 501(c)(3) intentionally designed to disrupt our complex healthcare system with a health literacy and mental health life-skills program for ALL youth transitioning to adult care (HCT), and everyone else. This includes rare or chronic disease, underserved communities, or those with educational disabilities. We bridge the gap in healthcare by empowering all people to learn to actually use healthcare and self-advocate before they need it instead of after when it's too late. We empower people.
