Highlights: Summary: The Radiology Technician Student, under the supervision of a Registered Technologist, shall be responsible to perform duties involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for detecting pathology. This individual will be tasked with producing quality, diagnostic images and provide anatomically correct views for the Radiologist. Additionally, the Student will be responsible to practice radiation safety and utilize departmental safety procedures. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role. Education / Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required. Must be a student currently enrolled in a School of Radiologic Technology. License / Certification: BLS required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Must possess decision-making skills. • Good oral and written communication skills. • Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations. • Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated. • Strong interpersonal skills. • The ability to communicate effectively with patients, guest, and hospital personnel. • The ability to show compassion and sensitivity for patient comfort. • The ability to maintain confidentiality. Work Conditions/Physical Requirements: Position requires sitting 10% of the workday, walking 50%, and standing 40% of the workday. Must be able to assist and maneuver patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and beds. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to ## pounds, pushing/pulling up to ## pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Continuous exposure to mechanical, electrical, and radiation-producing equipment.
