Position Summary:
The Clinical Business Manager provides leadership and day-to-day oversight for the admissions and intake team. This role ensures timely and accurate prior authorizations, supports compliance with documentation standards, and promotes efficient service delivery across residential and outpatient programs. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience navigating payer systems and supporting staff within behavioral health or recovery services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the clinical admissions team, ensuring timely intake processes and positive client experiences.
- Oversee prior authorization workflows and payer communications to avoid delays in services.
- Complete monthly audits of clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Director of Outpatient Services to identify training needs and coordinate the delivery of onboarding and ongoing staff development.
- Ensure documentation and billing requirements are being met to support timely claims and reimbursements.
- Partner with scheduling coordinators to resolve staffing issues as needed.
- Serve as liaison between the admissions team, program leadership, billing, and administrative departments to address and resolve operational concerns.
- Maintain up-to-date training materials and ensure resources are available to support staff across locations.
- Provide guidance and back-up support for crises or complex client admissions.
- Support continuous improvement by monitoring workflows and making recommendations for process enhancements.
- Travel to and between facilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting required.
- At least 2 years of direct experience managing prior authorizations for mental health and/or substance use services required.
- Prior experience supervising or leading a team is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Medicaid, commercial insurance payers, and behavioral health documentation standards.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel; familiarity with Access or EHR systems is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
Preferred Certifications (a plus, not required):
- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
- Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS)
- HIPAA Compliance Certification or Training
Salary : $58,000 - $62,000
