Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and professional Medical Front Desk Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and billing procedures. Experience in medical office and familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft is required. Bilingual abilities and prior healthcare experience will be considered advantageous.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional customer service at the front desk
- Schedule patient appointments and manage calendar updates efficiently
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
- Collect payments and process medical billing using appropriate CPT and ICD coding standards
- Review and update patient medical records ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries professionally, and direct calls appropriately
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records, documentation review, and office correspondence
- Assist with intake procedures for new patients, including data entry and documentation review
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as care plan documentation and health information management
- Utilize EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or others to document patient interactions accurately
- Handle administrative support duties including typing reports, managing office supplies, and supporting office management activities
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other payers
- Excellent phone etiquette with multi-line phone system handling skills
- Familiarity with health information management standards and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing processes
- Bilingual communication skills are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior experience in medical office management.
- Outstanding customer service skills combined with professionalism in a healthcare setting
- Ability to understand EOBs
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 25.0 per week
