Key responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose: Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft systems (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, structural) to identify malfunctions or potential problems.
- Repair and replace: Use hand or power tools to repair or replace defective parts, such as wings, brakes, or electrical components.
- Maintain and overhaul: Perform scheduled maintenance, overhauls, and modifications on aircraft to ensure continued airworthiness.
- Test systems: Use gauges, diagnostic equipment, and other instruments to test aircraft parts and systems to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Document work: Keep accurate and detailed records of all inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed.
- Ensure compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with aviation safety rules and regulations, such as those from the FAA.
- Interpret manuals: Read and interpret maintenance manuals, technical instructions, and flight data to guide repair and maintenance procedures.
Core responsibilities of PILOT
- Flight planning: Develop flight plans based on weather, altitude, and aircraft performance.
- Pre-flight checks: Inspect the aircraft to ensure all systems, instruments, and safety equipment are functioning correctly.

- Safety management: Monitor weather conditions, ensure passenger and cargo safety, and handle in-flight emergencies.
- Post-flight duties: Complete flight logs and reports, noting any technical issues or required maintenance.
