Scope of Position

In this role, you will lead design and/or consulting team members in a business unit and/or within an office and participate in business development for market(s) assigned. You will participate in the recruitment, development, and retention of design and consulting team members as assigned within a business unit, office and/or region.

Job Responsibilities

• Business Development & Client Growth
  
  • Serve as a seller-doer by balancing project execution responsibilities with business development activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with utility clients, transmission developers, renewable energy developers, independent power producers, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Support market expansion initiatives and strategic growth plans for the Transmission & Utilities practice.
  • Lead or support proposal development, pursuits, presentations, and client meetings to secure new business opportunities.
  • Represent the organization independently in client-facing situations, industry events, conferences, and business development meetings.
• Technical Leadership & Quality
  
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for transmission and utility design projects.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) efforts and support the development and maintenance of engineering standards and best practices.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and project teams throughout project execution.
  • Mentor engineers and designers while supporting the growth of technical capabilities across the team.
• Team Development & Organizational Growth
  
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and developing technical staff.
  • Partner with leadership to identify future staffing needs and workforce planning strategies.
  • Contribute to the continued growth, scalability, and long-term success of the Transmission & Utilities practice.
  • Act as a key leadership partner and extension of senior management to support organizational effectiveness and succession planning.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading utility or transmission design projects.
• Demonstrated client relationship management experience.
• Experience supporting business development activities.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in client-facing situations.
• Proven technical leadership capabilities.
• Experience mentoring engineering professionals and developing high-performing teams.
• Knowledge of utility procurement processes and project delivery requirements preferred.

Qualifications

• Existing relationships with Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs), Renewable Energy Developers, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), Transmission Developers, or other utility industry stakeholders strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of market growth, client development, and strategic business expansion.
• Experience operating in a senior leadership capacity with responsibility for both project delivery and business growth.

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information.
