What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at The Harper Law Firm, PLLC?
Our law firm is looking for a friendly and detail-oriented Legal Assistant. The position would be part-time at first, but could become full-time for the right person.
We are looking for someone who has compassion for our injured clients, a polite and friendly attitude, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to client privacy.
A high school diploma is required, you must be able to pass a criminal background check, and you need to be comfortable using modern office software and technology.
Experience is preferred, but not required. If you are smart and enthusiastic, we will teach you how to do the job.
It wouldn't hurt if you like like dogs - our founding partner's 12-year-old boxer often comes with him to work!
What's most important is that you have a strong desire to do meaningful work helping people who have suffered physical injuries.
- Answer phone calls, schedule meetings, greets visitors
- Request client medical records
- Request client medical bills
- File legal documents electronically with the appropriate court
- Go to post office to mail and collect legal and related documents
- Maintain client electronic and physical files
- Download documents from government portals
- Become a notary (if not already a licensed notary)
- Help with preparation for hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
