Job Overview: Assist with overall patient care including screening, interviewing, and assessing patients for physical, mental health, or drug and alcohol treatment needs. This position serves in a float capacity, providing both clinical nursing support and administrative/medical secretary support as needed to ensure continuity of care, efficient clinic operations, and appropriate coverage.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Clinical / Nursing
- To provide services to consumers as directed, including assisting with assessments and coordination of care with prescribers
- To perform basic assessment of the consumer by recording vital signs, noting changes, and reporting findings to appropriate clinical staff
- To support ongoing monitoring of consumer’s mental and physical health status and communicate relevant information to prescribers and treatment team members
- To assist with patient education regarding medications, treatment expectations, and overall wellness
- To collaborate with treatment team members to ensure patient safety and quality care
Administrative / Medical Secretary Responsibilities
- To provide administrative support to outpatient psychiatric clinicians and patients as needed
- To manage office documentation including lab orders and results, referrals, prior authorizations, and completion of outside forms (e.g., FMLA, housing, assistance office)
- To assist with scheduling appointments, managing clinician schedules, and ensuring efficient use of appointment slot
Float Role
- To provide coverage across both nursing and administrative functions based on clinic need
- To adapt to changing priorities and support team members to ensure continuity of care and operation
Education and Experience:
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current, unrestricted license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills require
- Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a team
Experience in behavioral health or a medical office setting preferred
