Job Title: Laundry Attendant
Location: The Groton Inn – 128 Main Street, Groton, MA
Schedule: Year-round | 20–30 hours per week | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Weekend availability required
Compensation: $16.00–$18.00 per hour
Benefits: Access to fitness center and staff meals provided
Experience: Previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred

Position Summary:

The Laundry Attendant plays an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations of The Groton Inn’s housekeeping team. Under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper, this position is responsible for ensuring all hotel linens are cleaned, pressed, and maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, supports a team-oriented culture, and ensures guest satisfaction through attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Operations:

• Sort and load soiled linens for washing, pretreat stains as needed

• Operate industrial washers, dryers, and pressing equipment safely and efficiently

• Fold towels, linens, pillowcases, and other items by hand or using appropriate machines

• Identify and separate damaged or stained items for repair or repurposing

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, including lint trap and drain checks

• Follow all safety guidelines and report any unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment

• Assist with light housekeeping tasks and cross-train as needed (see housekeeping description for details)

• Support team members in maintaining a clean and welcoming property

Guest & Team Interaction:

• Report guest concerns or maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly

• Exhibit a helpful and positive attitude with both internal and external guests

Skills & Requirements:

• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)

• Willingness to be trained in safe use of chemicals, laundry equipment, and cleaning standards

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality results

• Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift up to 50 lbs

• Ability to follow verbal and written directions and adapt to changing priorities

• Must be courteous, professional, and punctual

• Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed

Work Environment:

• Laundry work is performed indoors with exposure to heat, steam, and cleaning chemicals

• Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting

• May occasionally require work on uneven surfaces or stair climbing

• Frequent handwashing and adherence to health and safety protocols required

• Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours based on business needs

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Legally authorized to work in the United States

• Ability to maintain professionalism, attention to detail, and a positive team spirit
