We are looking for a Summer Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher for our RIDE‑approved school called The Groden School located on the East Side of Providence, RI with the age group being 5-21 year-old students (Near Hope Street). This established program serves young learners with disabilities in a nurturing, innovative, and highly individualized environment.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:15AM-3:30PM
Timeframe Needed: late June- August 21, 2026
Rate of Pay: $186 per day

Your Impact:
As the Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher, you will:
- Modify the physical education curriculum and instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities ranging from ages 5-22
- Develop individualized programs, improve motor skills, and ensure safe, equitable participation in physical activity, often working within school IEP teams
- Develop and monitor IEP goals and instructional plans that promote growth, positive behavior/activity and independence
- Schedule, implement, and oversee daily programming
- Collaborate closely with behavior specialists, therapists, families, and support staff
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of student and staff documentation
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- All Grades Adapted Physical Education Teacher Certification through RIDE
- At least one year of experience as an Adapted Physical Education teacher is preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with complex learning needs
- CPR/First Aid Certification (We provide training if needed)
- Safety Care Training (We provide training if needed)
