Job Title: Residential Behavior Specialist – Cove CenterOverview of the Cove Center: The Cove Center, a division of the Groden Network, serves adults in Rhode Island with autism and developmental disabilities, offering ongoing education, experiences and a supportive staff that emphasizes the individuals’ role in making choices; thereby giving them the greatest control of the direction of their own life.General Position Description:Plan and implement behavioral and skill area program plans within a daily schedule in a residential program; employ physical intervention as necessary; promote health and safety while encouraging skill development and independence; data collection; report writing and analysis; upkeep and cleaning of household.Essential Functions: 1. Participate and implement programs, both behavioral and educational, as indicated in a daily schedule.2. Supervise clients at all times, as assigned on the schedule, including monitoring clients' sleep patterns.a Input into program planning,b Preparation of assigned documented plans for each client according to timelines, c Attendance at meetings, including annual planning meetings as appropriate,d Involving client in making choices/decisions as designated.3. Participate in developing instructional strategies, methods of evaluation, and behavioral interventions including:a Preparation and/or obtaining correspondence materials;b Based on team decisions, preparing intervention descriptions for assigned residents.4. Monitor progress of assigned residents, including:a Record and evaluate data in a timely manner,b Notify the supervisor of problem areas.5. Maintain a positive, reinforcing and communicative approach toward residents, their families, fellow employees, and supervisors to help assure that the quality of life is a pleasant and positive one.6. Adhere to established guidelines for issues pertaining to abuse.7. Communicate with residents' families and other involved parties as required in a manner that is respectful, responsive, and promotes communication, referring all sensitive issues to the supervisor.8. Participate in staff training activities, completing assignments according to timelines.9. Adhere to procedures and policies as described.10. Implement general residential responsibilities as assigned, which may include house cleaning, laundry, and client filing (particularly for awake-overnight shifts).11. Communicate in a manner that is audible and legible.12. Intervene with clients to implement behavioral interventions, including physical restraint, lifting, and transporting. Ability to lift over 50 pounds (weight will vary depending on size/age of client).13. Participate in program analysis activities which include supervisor observations, video and audio taping of staff and clients, and written feedback.14. Participate in designated training that may occur during unscheduled work time. Must be First Aid, CPR and Pro-Act certified and maintain annual re-certification.15. Accompany residents into the water.16. Transport clients; must have valid driver's license.17. Attend agency functions.18. Participate and enhance community involvement with residents.19. Successful completion of medical certification program.(i.e. medication dispensing, MAP, etc.)Additional Duties for All Network Job Descriptions:1. Provide coverage for staff within the program at various sites during periods of short staffing, inclement weather, emergency conditions, etc.2. Provide coverage/support across the network, including rescheduling and/or redeployment to other programs requiring assistance during emergency conditions.Education, Experience and Special Skills:1. Bachelor's degree preferred in psychology, special education or other human service field.2. 1 years experience required working with individuals who have behavior disorders or developmental delays.3. First Aid/CPR preferred.4. Able to perform emergency restraint procedures as needed.2nd shift; 4-12 AM3rd shift; 12-8 AM
Salary : $20 - $22
