OMNISPHERE OPERATOR
The OmniSphere Operator assists the VP of Innovation and Technology in weekend operations of the GSC's planetarium and theater. The GSC's OmniSphere is a unique cinematic facility, providing opportunities to educate and entertain the public using full dome projection technology. We share with audiences the view of the night sky as seen from Earth as well as explorations of exotic locations as we travel virtually among the stars.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with flexible weekend morning and afternoon hours, two weekends a month, determined by the scheduling of public shows. Hours will generally be 6 per workday. Additional weekday hours may be available.
Job Responsibilities:
- Welcome patrons to the facility.
- Play prerecorded educational shows on the theater dome.
- Operate and maintain projection equipment.
- Assist with occasional evening public observing sessions as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Availability to work flexible hours on weekends and holidays with the possibility of occasional evenings and weekdays.
- Requires regular and consistent attendance.
- Has an energetic and friendly attitude during each shift.
- Provides excellent guest service.
- Interpersonal skills include the ability to communicate with all ages, genders, and personalities. Must be able to effectively converse in and comprehend English.
- Ability to take and follow directions.
Environmental Factors:
- Frequent standing, walking and reaching.
- Noise level may be moderate to high at times.
- Interacting with both individuals and large groups is necessary and unavoidable. Ability to talk and hear are required.
