Position Overview

The GOD'S CHILD Project (GCP) is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Community Engagement Specialist to expand our presence throughout the Bismarck-Mandan region and surrounding communities.

As the birthplace of The GOD'S CHILD Project, this region represents one of our greatest opportunities to increase awareness, strengthen partnerships, inspire volunteers, cultivate donor relationships, and grow sustainable fundraising efforts.


Serving as GCP's primary ambassador, this individual will build meaningful connections with churches, schools, businesses, civic organizations, healthcare providers, service clubs, and individual supporters while leading outreach, fundraising, volunteer initiatives, public speaking, and community events.

Through these efforts, the Community Engagement Specialist will help grow a vibrant network of partners advancing GCP's mission to break the chains of poverty through education, healthcare, nutrition, housing, and human dignity.


Community Engagement & Partnership Development (40%)

  • Serve as GCP's primary representative throughout Bismarck, Mandan, and surrounding communities.
  • ·Build and maintain relationships with churches, schools, universities, healthcare organizations, civic groups, businesses, and nonprofit partners.
  • Develop new community partnerships that increase awareness and support of GCP.
  • Schedule presentations, speaking engagements, and informational meetings.
  •  Represent GCP at networking events, community meetings, and regional conferences.
  • Attend events as GCP's primary representative.
  • Build long-term relationships through consistent community presence.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative community initiatives.


Fundraising & Donor Development (25%)

  • Develop and grow community-based fundraising initiatives throughout the region.
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events, annual campaigns, and community activities/special fundraising projects.
  • Develop proposals and sponsorship opportunities for businesses and community organizations.
  • Cultivate and steward donors through consistent communication and relationship building.
  • Recruit corporate sponsors and event sponsors.
  • Assist major donor cultivation alongside leadership.
  • Develop annual engagement calendars for the region.
  • Identify new philanthropic opportunities within the community.


Volunteer & ServiceTeam Engagement (20%)

  • Recruit volunteers for local events and organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinate volunteers and logistics for community events.
  • Promote international ServiceTeams throughout schools, churches, and businesses.
  • Build relationships with former ServiceTeam participants and encourage continued engagement.
  • Coordinate volunteer appreciation and recognition efforts.
  • Support volunteer leadership development.


Marketing & Communications (10%)

  • Collaborate with GCP's Marketing Team to promote events and campaigns.
  • Gather local success stories, testimonials, photos, and videos.
  • Identify media opportunities throughout North Dakota.
  • Maintain consistent branding across all regional activities.
  • Help increase community awareness through strategic communication.


Administration & Reporting (5%)

  • Maintain accurate CRM records.
  •  Track donor interactions and community partnerships.
  • Monitor event outcomes and fundraising performance.
  •  Provide monthly reports on regional engagement activities.
  • Recommend new opportunities for community growth.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, business, marketing, fundraising, education, public relations, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in donor development and fundraising.
  • Two or more years of experience in education and community engagement.
  •  Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Passion for relationship building and networking.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel throughout western North Dakota

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Public speaking experience.
  •  Experience planning events.
  • Experience building business partnerships.
  •  Familiarity with CRM systems.
  • Passion for international service and humanitarian work.
