The Systems Engineer, End-User Computing ( EUC ) is a senior technical expert responsible for managing and optimizing GW’s endpoint and virtual computing environment. This role ensures that faculty, staff, and students have secure, reliable, and user-friendly technology experiences across classrooms, offices, and remote environments.
The engineer serves as a primary technical lead for endpoint management and virtual desktop infrastructure ( VDI ) platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro, and Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop. They ensure these systems are configured for stability, security, and performance, and contribute to digital workspace strategy in collaboration with senior IT leadership.
Acts as the Tier 3 escalation point for endpoint-related incidents, providing advanced troubleshooting and systemic fixes for issues escalated from Tiers 1 and 2. This includes diagnosing complex problems and implementing solutions that prevent recurrence.
Partners with IT Service Delivery, Server Management, Cloud Computing, Networking, IT Security, Identity & Access Management, Audiovisual (AV) Engineering, Unified Communications & Collaboration ( UCC ), Student Computing Labs & Printing, and other teams inside and outside GW IT to deliver integrated solutions and maintain compliance with security and access standards.
Leads and contributes to projects that improve endpoint services, including automation, provisioning, and user experience enhancements. Provides input on emerging technologies and recommends improvements aligned with departmental goals.
Implements metrics to monitor device health, application inventory, usage reports, and user satisfaction, driving continuous improvement. Provides technical guidance to peers and junior staff. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the mission of GW IT.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Hands-on experience with endpoint management and VDI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune and Configuration Manager, Jamf Pro, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop) in a mid-to-large enterprise.
- Solid understanding of operating systems (Windows/macOS/Linux), device configuration, device imaging/provisioning, patching, and software deployment.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to support endpoint operations
- Familiarity with cloud computing, endpoint security tools and practices, including antivirus, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Experience monitoring and optimizing device health, login times, and user satisfaction metrics.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across IT teams (e.g., Networking, Security, AV, IAM ) to deliver integrated solutions.
- Experience serving as a Tier 3 escalation point, managing ticket queue, and resolving complex technical issues.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Endpoint Administrator Associate, Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty, Jamf Certified Admin, or similar.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in endpoint technologies.
