I. Job Overview

Job Description Summary:

The Milken Institute School of Public Health seeks an Administrative Manager to support the Senior Associate Dean for Research ( SADR ) and the Office of Research Excellence ( ORE ). This role provides a blend of executive support, operational leadership, and selective program coordination to advance the School’s research priorities.

The Administrative Manager serves as a key partner to the SADR , helping to ensure that research initiatives, internal operations, and cross-school coordination run efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executive & Strategic Support to the SADR
  • Manage and prioritize the SADR’s workflow, including meeting preparation, briefings, and follow-up.
  • Prepare high-level materials such as presentations, reports, and communications.
  • Conduct background research and synthesize information to support decision-making.
  • Ensure coordination across leadership meetings, initiatives, and external engagements.
  • Office Operations & Coordination
  • Support day-to-day operations of the Office of Research Excellence.
  • Coordinate workflows, track priorities, and improve internal processes.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for ORE , liaising with departments and central GW offices.
  • Assist with budget tracking, travel, reimbursements, and administrative processes.
  • Research Program & Initiative Support
  • Provide coordination and administrative support for ORE -led initiatives and projects.
  • Assist in tracking research programs, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support development of materials related to research initiatives (briefs, summaries, reports).
  • Help coordinate cross-departmental research activities and collaborations.
  • Events & Research Communications
  • Coordinate research-related events such as Research Day, symposia, workshops, and faculty convenings.
  • Assist with preparation of research communications, including announcements and briefing materials.
  • Support visibility of GWSPH research through internal and external communications.
  • Special Projects
  • Support high-priority projects led by the SADR , including strategic initiatives and cross-school efforts.
  • Conduct research, organize information, and track progress on key deliverables.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Hiring Range $65,252.91 - $94,508.38
