Based in our Charleston, SC office, the position will work closely with our engineers assisting with structural inspections, condition assessments, reporting, design, construction oversight, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Engineering Intern Responsibilities
A typical workday will be spent in the office. However, field work and inspections will also be required. Work will be focused on condition assessments, structural inspections and analysis, detailed documentation and reporting of various commercial and industrial projects, coordinating design efforts with various other professional disciplines including site/civil, geotechnical, surveying, hydrogeological, and environmental. Must also be willing to learn CAD to assist with design and construction plan development.
Required Qualifications For An Engineering Intern
Work is performed primarily in the office. Time will be spent on location at commercial, government, and industrial clients’ sites as well. Travel to client sites, contractor facilities, and industry events is required based on project needs but at a minimum may be 20% of the week.

Required Qualifications For An Engineering Intern
- Current student in the process of acquiring a Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related field of study.
- Strong communication skills, self-motivated, organized, flexible, and able to work independently and with a project team.
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Satisfy test results as part of GEL’s drug-free workplace policy and pre-employment screening requirements.
- Must be willing to travel and perform field work.
- Preference will be given to local candidates.
