Job Summary:
The Game Technician at THE GAB SPOT is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing arcade games, redemption machines, and other entertainment equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the gaming experience for guests is seamless, enjoyable, and free from technical issues. The Game Technician will work closely with the operations and maintenance teams to ensure that the gaming area is functioning efficiently, creating a high-quality experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform regular inspections of arcade games, redemption machines, and other equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues with machines, including problems with hardware, software, and mechanical components.
- Repair or replace faulty components and ensure all games and machines are in good working order.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment to minimize downtime and reduce the need for emergency repairs.
- Game Setup & Configuration:
- Set up new games and machines, ensuring they are correctly installed, calibrated, and tested before they are put into service.
- Configure game settings, including volume, credits, prizes, or difficulty levels as needed to optimize the gaming experience.
- Assist with the rotation or removal of old games and the installation of new ones in the gaming area.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Respond to technical issues that arise during regular operation, including issues with game functionality, ticket dispensers, or redemption machines.
- Work quickly to address any problems and minimize downtime, ensuring that the gaming experience is not disrupted for guests.
- Assist with troubleshooting common issues such as screen freezes, power outages, malfunctioning tickets, or unresponsive controls.
- Provide technical support to other team members or supervisors as needed.
- Guest Interaction & Customer Service:
- Assist guests with any technical problems they experience with the games, including troubleshooting and offering solutions.
- Offer friendly and knowledgeable assistance to guests who may need help operating games or machines.
- Ensure guests are satisfied with the resolution of any technical issues and that they are able to enjoy their gaming experience.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that all games and equipment meet safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Identify potential safety hazards related to equipment, such as exposed wires or malfunctioning machines, and take appropriate action to fix them.
- Report any issues that could pose safety concerns to management or the maintenance team for prompt resolution.
- Inventory & Parts Management:
- Keep track of parts inventory, including spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Order replacement parts as needed and ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
- Maintain records of maintenance and repair work completed on each machine.
- Collaboration with Team:
- Work closely with the operations team, game attendants, and management to ensure smooth operations in the gaming area.
- Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance staff to plan and prioritize repairs and upgrades.
- Assist in preparing for major events, promotions, or new game installations.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with arcade games, amusement machines, or electronic equipment repair is highly preferred.
- Experience in electronics, mechanical repair, or troubleshooting gaming equipment is a plus.
- Previous experience in a technical or maintenance role is beneficial.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of arcade game systems, mechanical equipment, and electronic troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to work with basic tools and machinery required for repairs and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Comfort with working in various environments, such as both indoor and outdoor settings, when handling or installing equipment.
