Registered Nurse - Clinical Research (Phase I Unit)

- $42-$45/hour for Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM hours
- $51-$55/hour for all hours worked outside standard business hours (evenings, nights, weekends)
๐ Schedule: Variable (0-40 hours/week) - must have weekend, night, and/or PM availability
๐ Contract: 1 Year to start (potential extension)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support clinical operations within a Phase I Clinical Research Unit. This role involves direct patient care, study execution, and safety monitoring for clinical trial participants. The ideal candidate will have a strong acute care background (ICU, ER, or Telemetry) and the flexibility to support a 24/7 research environment.
Schedule & Availability Requirements
Facility operates 24/7 - flexible scheduling required
Must be available for nights and weekends (primary need)
Common shifts include:
- Days: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM or 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Evenings: 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM
- Nights: 10:45 PM - 7:15 AM
- Weekends (12-hour): 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
- Weekend doubles: 6:45 AM - 11:15 PM
Open to:
- Full-time (40 hrs/week) or
- Part-time (as low as 2 days/week)
Candidates May Hold Another Full-time Role
6-week orientation required, with training across all three shifts
Key Responsibilities
- Execute clinical trial protocols within a Phase I research setting
- Ensure safety, wellbeing, and confidentiality of study participants
- Monitor, assess, and document adverse events and support safety reporting
- Perform clinical procedures including IV starts, assessments, and specimen collection
- Review study protocols and informed consent forms, identifying potential issues
- Maintain accurate documentation in eSource and study records
- Collaborate with:
- Principal Investigators and physicians
- Recruiting/Screening teams
- Data and clinical operations staff
- Support study start-up, execution, and closeout activities
- Participate in quality improvement and compliance initiatives
- Assist with training and onboarding of new nursing staff
- Support patient recruitment and screening activities
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of experience in:
- ICU, OR
- Emergency Room, OR
- Telemetry
- Strong clinical skills including:
- IV placement
- Patient assessments
- Clinical documentation
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and documentation tools
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN preferred (Associateโs degree accepted)
- Prior clinical research experience (Phase I strongly preferred)
Familiarity with:
- GCP, ICH, and CFR guidelines
- Experience in high-acuity or fast-paced environments
