Building Automation Controls Engineer

The Forum Group is partnering with a growing building automation systems integrator to identify an experienced Building Automation Controls Engineer. This is an opportunity to join a team delivering complex automation projects for commercial and mission-critical facilities, with an emphasis on energy efficiency, system reliability, and long-term client support.

Position Overview

In this role, you'll be responsible for programming, integrating, commissioning, and supporting building automation systems across a variety of customer sites. You'll work closely with project managers, field technicians, and end users to develop customized control solutions while ensuring reliable system performance from startup through ongoing operation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify BAS software for HVAC and building automation applications.
• Configure, integrate, and commission control platforms from multiple manufacturers, including Niagara Framework, Honeywell, Distech, Johnson Controls, and other leading BAS technologies.
• Interface building automation systems with related technologies such as access control, metering, PLC-based equipment, and other facility systems.
• Work with customers and internal engineering teams to understand project requirements and translate them into functional control strategies.
• Diagnose and resolve software, communications, and system integration issues during startup and post-installation support.
• Optimize existing sequences of operation to improve occupant comfort, equipment performance, and energy efficiency.
• Produce programming documentation, graphics, and system documentation as required.
• Provide technical guidance to field personnel and assist with customer training when projects are completed.
• Stay current with evolving BAS technologies, networking practices, and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience programming commercial HVAC or building automation systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of one or more BAS platforms such as Niagara, Honeywell, Distech, or Johnson Controls.
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or other building automation communication protocols.
• Experience integrating third-party systems into enterprise building management platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving software, controllers, field devices, and network communications.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is helpful but not required.
• Manufacturer certifications or formal BAS training are considered a plus.
