Job Purpose
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining community amenities and assisting with general maintenance operations. This role focuses on ensuring recreational facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, and pickle ball courts are clean, safe, and fully operational. The technician will also assist Maintenance Technician II with work orders, event setup, and daily operational tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Amenity Maintenance
- Inspect, clean, and maintain swimming pools, including monitoring water quality and equipment.
- Maintain tennis and pickleball courts, including surface cleaning, net adjustments, and minor repairs.
- Ensure amenity areas are safe, presentable, and compliant with safety standards.
- Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards promptly.
Lighting & Grounds
- Light and monitor gas lamps as required.
- Perform minor groundskeeping and upkeep around amenity areas.
- Replace light bulbs and assist with minor electrical maintenance as needed.
Event Support
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for community events.
- Ensure event areas are clean and ready before and after use.
- Provide on-site support during events as needed.
Work Order Assistance
- Assist Maintenance Technician II with service requests and work orders.
- Assist with basic repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
- Use maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.
- Pool maintenance experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
Organizational Relationships
- Interact with staff and Members on a professional and experienced level daily.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; stand; walk; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Bend, lift, open and move weight from 1 to 50 lbs., depending on need.
- Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
- Outdoor and indoor work environment.
- May require evenings, weekends, or holidays based on event schedules.
