What are the responsibilities and job description for the Modern Worship Band Leader position at The First United Methodist Church of Rockwall?
Job Purpose:
The Open Door Band Leader of the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall enthusiastically leads the body of Christ through music and planning the modern worship experiences.
Job Responsibilities:
· Planning, organizing, and spiritually leading the weekly Open Door Worship Service
· Consulting regularly with the Associate Pastor to organize and create worship within the Open Door Service
· Managing the administrative aspects of the Open Door Band—keeping track of schedules and absences of band members, keeping record of songs played and their frequency
· Planning and executing weekly rehearsals with the Open Door Band
· Staying up to date on developments in contemporary worship through research, continuing education, events, etc.
· Work with other music staff to achieve integrated music opportunities for children and youth within the congregation
· Recruiting, training, and building the Open Door Band as needed
· Other tasks as needed
Job Skills and Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required
· Currently enrolled, or completed a degreed program in a music-related field, or equivalent experience leading contemporary worship required
· Must be available to work Sunday mornings from 9:30pm to 1pm
· Must have a general knowledge of the United Methodist Tradition and Wesleyan Theology
· Must understand the role of worship to the Church and God’s people
· Demonstrated ability to exercise patience required, exercising flexibility
· Strong Interpersonal skills required
· Exceptional talent vocally to lead a worship experience
· Strong verbal and written communication skills required
· Ability to collaborate and develop an understanding of band dynamics, worship environment production, and ministry teamwork in a worship team setting is required
· Experience on keys is preferred
· Familiarity with relevant software to enhance worship presentation (i.e. ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, etc.)
· Strong organizational skills required
· Desire to be intentionally invitational and welcome all into the community of Christ
· Constant striving to be a faithful child of God who treats others with love, dignity, and respect
· Strong administrator proficient in time management
· High energy and physical stamina required; must be able to stand for long periods
· Proficient in multitasking and following up
Job Status:
Non-exempt, fewer than 15 hours per week (typically 7-10 hours)
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
