Position Overview
The accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations — including bookkeeping, reconciliations, reporting, and cash flow management. You’ll ensure accuracy and transparency in financial records and provide valuable insights that help drive strategic business decisions.
This role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple accounts (our own firm and potentially our law firm clients’ consulting projects).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and general ledger entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
- Create budgets and forecasts for internal business planning.
- Track expenses and ensure proper categorization of consulting-related costs.
- Manage payroll coordination and contractor payments.
- Prepare financial statements and analysis for management review.
- Support tax preparation and coordinate with external CPA firms.
- Develop financial dashboards and recommend process improvements for efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in professional services, consulting, or law firm environments.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and Google Workspace.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and cash flow management.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a remote, high-accountability, and collaborative environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting law firms or legal service businesses.
- Familiarity with consulting or agency-style project billing.
- Ability to generate and interpret financial KPIs (profitability per client, gross margins, etc.).
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll or contractor compliance.
