Role Description The Property Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in North Miami Beach, FL. This role is responsible for managing self-storage development projects from early concept through completion, including site selection support, feasibility review, and coordination of due diligence activities. The Property Development Manager will oversee project budgeting and scheduling, work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants, and support contract negotiations with vendors and service providers. The position will monitor construction progress, address issues that impact timelines or costs, and ensure that projects align with company quality standards and investment objectives. The role also collaborates with internal finance and asset management teams to support project underwriting, reporting, and transition to ongoing property management.
Qualifications
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with Finance and Budgeting for real estate development projects.
- Demonstrated ability in Contract Negotiation with contractors, consultants, permtting, and other third-party partners.
- Knowledge of Property Management principles to support smooth handoff from development to operations.
- Experience in real estate development, preferably in self-storage or commercial properties.
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Strong project management skills, including timeline management, stakeholder coordination, and problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Proficiency with project management and office software (e.g., MS Office, project scheduling tools); familiarity with development pro formas is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site and visit project locations as needed, with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
