Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, medication, watering, cleaning kennels, and monitoring health status
- Handle dogs and other pets with gentle restraint and appropriate animal handling techniques
- Assist with pet grooming, bathing, and basic pet training activities to promote good behavior and hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness of all kennel areas, including disinfecting cages and common spaces to ensure a sanitary environment
- Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and communicate any concerns to veterinary staff or supervisors
- Support outdoor activities such as walks or playtime to promote physical activity and mental stimulation
- Engage with pet owners through friendly customer service, answering questions about pet care routines and facility policies
Requirements
- Prior experience working with animals in veterinary clinics, pet care facilities, or similar environments is highly preferred
- Strong dog handling skills along with animal restraint expertise to ensure safety for pets and staff
- Knowledge of animal behavior, welfare, and basic pet grooming techniques
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of supplies or animals when necessary
- Comfortable working in variety of weather conditions. Outdoor work experience is beneficial for assisting with outdoor walks or play areas
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and visitors
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail and proactive problem-solving
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform manual tasks throughout the shift
- MUST have weekend availability.
