Family Educator- Abuse Prevention Facilitator
General Description:
The Family Place Utah (TFPU) is seeking a dynamic, part-time Family Educator to join our Family Education Department. In this role, you will deliver the "Protect" child abuse prevention curriculum to local elementary school students, playing a vital role in keeping children safe. As an integral member of our team, you will receive comprehensive training to confidently and effectively facilitate this critical program in accordance with program standards.
TFPU is a dedicated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to strengthen families and protect children across Cache, Franklin, and Rich Counties. We fulfill our mission through our 24-hour therapeutic child center, the Starfish Children’s Shelter, community education, and mental health services. Come make a difference with us!
Position Details:
Hours: Part-time, approximately 5–15 hours per week
Schedule: School-year position, summers off
Duties Synopsis:
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with elementary-aged children, engaging with school personnel, and presenting educational material in a positive and age-appropriate manner. Reliability, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Degree in helping profession required (Social Work, Human Development and Family Science, etc.)
2. Experience working with children
3. CPR/ First aid certified
4. Experience working with trauma preferred
5. Provide your own transportation (Mileage reimbursed)
6. Annual clearance of a Background Criminal Investigation
7. Dependable and flexible
8. Excellent communication and public speaking skills
9. Computer skills (word, excel, social media, etc.)
