PARENT EDUCATOR JOB OPENING-Weber, Box Elder, Davis, Cache Counties
Job Title:
Parent Educator (English and Spanish Speaking Positions)
Responsibilities:
Provide in-home and on-site education and hands-on instruction to families to prevent and alleviate the risks of child abuse and neglect, strengthen the family unit, and increase life skills.
Duties:
Provide in-home instruction and modeling to families as assigned by the In-home Parenting Education Director. Instruction will follow the research based curriculum. In-home instruction will cover a wide range of topics including, but not limited to: effective parenting skills; age appropriate expectations and interactions with children; communication skills; maintaining a clean, safe, and nurturing home environment, including helping client clean home if necessary; planning and preparing nutritious meals; personal hygiene and self-care; making and following a budget; and setting boundaries.
Assist families in accessing local community resources through referrals and advocacy with local agencies.
Document, maintain and safeguard client files. Documentation includes but is not limited to: Pre and Post Assessment, parent surveys; Family Initial Home Assessments; Parenting Instructional Plan; Goal Setting Worksheets; Monthly Reports; Progress Summaries; and Discharge Summaries.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, Child and Family Team Meetings, and supervision meetings.
Attend on-going training meetings and or conference/workshops as required by contract.
Requirements:
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Have at least two years’ experience working with children.
Provide your own reliable transportation. (Mileage will be reimbursed)
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must be able to travel throughout Northern Utah. Mileage is reimbursed.
Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Salary:
Salary is mutually agreed upon by the Parent Educator and the Executive Director.
