OUR MISSION

The Family Place empowers survivors of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.

Position Summary:

The Director of Development, Individual Giving, will lead and grow The Family Place's individual giving program, cultivating transformational relationships with donors whose support fuels our mission to end domestic violence. As Director of Development, Individual Giving, you'll develop and execute comprehensive strategies to identify, engage, and steward individual donors at all levels, with particular focus on securing major gifts of $10,000 and above. 

This strategic fundraising role combines donor relationship management, major gift solicitation, event cultivation, and portfolio development to build a sustainable pipeline of philanthropic support. You'll partner closely with the Chief Advancement Officer on fundraising strategy, build and lead our Young Partners junior board, create compelling annual appeal campaigns, and collaborate with senior leadership to connect donors' passions with our life-saving programs. Success in this role requires exceptional relationship-building skills, strategic thinking, moves management expertise, and the ability to inspire donors to invest in survivors' journeys from crisis to healing.

Key Responsibilities:

Individual Giving Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive individual giving program for donors at all levels, with strategic focus on growing major gifts of $10,000 .
  • Create and execute donor cultivation strategies to identify, qualify, engage, and steward current and prospective individual donors.
  • Build and manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects with systematic moves management.
  • Implement an annual fundraising plan with clear goals, timelines, and metrics; track progress through regular reporting and evaluation.

Major Gift Fundraising

  • Develop tailored cultivation strategies for individual major donors aligned with their interests and capacity.
  • Conduct donor meetings, presentations, and solicitations to secure transformational gifts.
  • Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer on fundraising strategy development, solicitation support, meeting preparation, and relationship cultivation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, Board members, and program staff for donor cultivation and prospecting.

Donor Stewardship & Engagement

  • Work with the Stewardship Officer to ensure timely tax receipts and creative, personalized communication plans throughout the year.
  • Design meaningful stewardship experiences that deepen donor connection to mission impact.
  • Utilize moves management and other stewardship tools effectively to track donor engagement and next steps.
  • Ensure donor information in CRM (Raiser's Edge) is accurate, up-to-date, and actionable.

Annual Appeals & Campaigns

  • Design, propose, and implement annual appeal campaigns that inspire broad donor participation and revenue growth.
  • Craft compelling messaging that connects donors emotionally to survivor stories and program impact.
  • Segment audiences and personalize appeals to maximize response and donor retention.
  • Analyze campaign performance and implement data-driven improvements.

Young Partners Leadership

  • Build, manage, and grow Young Partners, The Family Place's junior board, as a leadership development and fundraising vehicle.
  • Recruit, onboard, and engage young professionals in meaningful volunteer leadership roles.
  • Plan and execute Young Partners events, campaigns, and engagement activities.
  • Cultivate Young Partners members as future major donors and Board leaders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate across agency teams to identify cultivation opportunities and connect donors to programs.
  • Work closely with senior staff to leverage their networks for prospecting and relationship-building.
  • Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer on all Development Department deliverables and strategic priorities.
  • Support the Executive Director with donor cultivation, events, and strategic fundraising initiatives as needed.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate donor records, contact reports, and prospect research in Raiser's Edge.
  • Track fundraising metrics, pipeline progress, and goal attainment with regular reporting.
  • Analyze giving trends and provide insights to inform strategy and decision-making.

Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 7 years of successful fundraising experience in building and growing individual giving portfolios and in planning and implementing special events.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, interest in stewarding individual donors to build meaningful and lasting connections, and strong understanding of donor protocol.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership teams, Boards, and other key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of fundraising trends and best practices.
  • Ability to self-manage, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong CRM skills (Raiser’s Edge preferred) and experience with donor databases.
  • Knowledge of the Dallas philanthropic community is preferred.
