Position Summary: Responsible for providing case management services at a supervised visitation center that includes coordination of family's services that accounts for the safety of children who have experienced and/or witnessed domestic violence and their non-custodial parent.

Work Hours/Days: Tuesday-Friday, 12-8:00 pm, Saturday, 9:00-5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists parents with the intake process which includes answering questions about services, providing referrals/resources, processing intake paperwork, scheduling and completing client intake interviews and coordination of client intake files.
  • Establishes supportive relationship with childs parents in order to provide parent intervention when necessary and appropriate, i.e. specifically in areas of discipline, nurturing, communication and socialization.
  • Assesses child and family needs in order to develop a service plan with referrals and access to advocates that addresses the needs of the family.
  • Provides orientation services with parents and/or children, including tours of the facility, explanation of services, social history, etc.
  • Maintains contact with parents receiving services and follows up regarding late cancels, late arrivals, no-shows and outstanding balances.
  • Completes necessary administrative tasks such as contact notes, data entry, observation notes, timesheets, checking phone messages, returning calls and distributing and assisting clients with paperwork.
  • Assists the site director to maintain an atmosphere that is warm, child friendly, respectful, emotionally consistent, and that holds safety for adult victims and their children as the highest priority.
  • Responds to requests subpoena requests for records and information regarding services. Provide written letter to the courts (attorneys and judges) as well as any pro se clients on a monthly basis to all families receiving services.
  • Participates in continuing education in the areas of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, child abuse and child development as appropriate.
  • Attends staff and agency meetings and/or training seminars.

Other Duties:

  • Provides Supervised Visitation and Monitored Exchanges as needed according to court orders or other relevant agreements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required and at least two years of experience working with victims of family violence and children of a variety of ages required. Training and experience in supervised visitation or related services, preferred. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) required.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Drivers License

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, stalking, sexual abuse and child abuse and how center safety can help victims gain a level of security.
  • Knowledge and effective execution of de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental illness as it pertains to victims/survivors of family violence.
  • Knowledge of the impact of violence in parenting, including how controlling and manipulative techniques are used to undermine domestic violence victims.
  • Skilled in basic therapeutic techniques for working with victims of trauma.
  • Skilled in providing meaningful referrals and resources based on client needs.
  • Skilled in boundary setting in a non-threating manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • Ability to multi-task, be a self-starter as well as a team player and work within a larger agency and see the role in relation to the mission of the organization and within the program.
  • Ability to follow professional code of ethics and maintain client confidentiality

Mental and Physical Abilities:

  • The employee must be physically and mentally able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation without a direct threat of injury to the employee, co-workers, clients or donors.
  • These include:

Ability to drive personal vehicle or company vehicle to visit sites or perform other duties for the position.

  • Ability to travel to outside meetings and work functions and run errands for the program.
  • Ability to attend court hearings, etc., to testify.

Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs). Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment.
