The Essex Resort & Spa is seeking an Assistant Front Office Manager to help lead our dynamic Front Office team. This hands-on leadership role works closely with the Front Office Manager to ensure smooth, efficient and warm operations — all while delivering the exceptional service our guests know and love.
As a visible leader in our lobby, you’ll be actively engaged in Front Desk operations, supporting the team during peak periods, resolving guest concerns with professionalism and ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to hospitality excellence.

Pay rate is $55,000/year.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services & Operations
  • Actively participate in Front Desk operations, including covering shifts and assisting with check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries.
  • Support the Front Office Manager in ensuring the Front Desk provides a welcoming, efficient, and professional guest experience.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally to maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • Oversee the operation of the gift shop, sundry purchases, and bake case (beer, wine, espresso), ensuring product quality, accurate inventory, and attractive presentation.
  • Serve as a visible leader in the lobby, assisting guests and supporting team members during peak times.
  • Take a lead on guest services by assisting the Front Office Manager with post-stay survey & review responses. Use guest feedback and create strategies for improving the guest experience.
Staff Management
  • Assist in recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating Front Office team members to uphold service excellence.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and guidance to team members during daily operations.
  • Support daily motivation and performance management to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Help create and maintain staff schedules aligned with occupancy forecasts and operational needs.
  • Assist with coverage of callouts.
  • Participate in regular Front Office meetings to promote clear communication and team collaboration.
Systems & Compliance
  • Maintain and update training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the direction of the Front Office Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with resort policies, procedures, and system controls.
  • Participate in internal committees (e.g., Safety, Holiday, Technology) and attend required management meetings.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as scheduled.
  • Assist with group rooming lists and special group requests to ensure accuracy and coordination.
  • Support other departments as needed to maintain smooth resort operations.
  • Take initiative to complete assigned tasks and demonstrate flexibility to meet business needs, including working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Help ensure fair and effective task delegation across the Front Desk team.
  • Commitment to spending the majority of time in the lobby and at the front desk, ensuring there is a warm management presence in the lobby each day.
