We are seeking an experienced finance professional to help manage and perform the finance and accounting functions for both brands.
About the Role
The Assistant Controller plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. This position partners closely with the Controller and cross-functional teams across operations, supply chain, sales and leadership. The Assistant Controller must be a high-energy “doer” as well as a manager, and they must be genuinely eager to proactively collaborate with other business functions, especially operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in consumer packaged goods, strong knowledge of GAAP for manufacturing, and possess exceptional analytical, systems, and Excel skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement packages in accordance with GAAP
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Oversee cost accounting functions, including inventory valuation, standard costing, and COGS analysis
- Perform varied financial analysis (e.g., financial statement variance, pricing, costing, etc.) to produce reports for management and the board that clearly communicate key takeaways and recommendations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
- Assist with audits (internal and external) and regulatory reporting
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff (AP, AR, and/or staff accountants)
- Partner with operations to analyze production costs, efficiencies and margin improvement opportunities
- Support ERP system optimization and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production
- Food manufacturing or CPG industry experience
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management
- Superior knowledge of financial reporting software tools and ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of organizational accounting concepts
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Ability to prepare financial reports and give recommendations based on available data
- Ability to perform risk and security assessments
- In-depth knowledge of financial guidelines and regulations
- Excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication, including writing, speaking and active listening
- Cross-functional collaboration and teamwork
Pay range and compensation package
Salary range $90,000-$115,000 annually. New hires typically start at the mid-to low end of the range. Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
