Fleet Mechanic

The Erosion Company (TEC) is currently hiring a Mechanic for our Cartersville, GA, location. The successful candidate will maintain vehicles and equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records.

TEC is the largest and most experienced erosion control contractor in the Southeast, and we are currently growing. TEC offers comprehensive erosion control, specialty materials, forestry, and other site clean-up/control services to a wide variety of clients.

Responsibilities as a Mechanic:

• Run diagnostic tests on vehicles and equipment.
• Analyze diagnostic test results.
• Understand basic diesel engine mechanics.
• Repair vehicle and equipment engines, fuel systems, suspension and steering mechanisms, electrical, and braking systems.
• Check vehicle lighting systems.
• Test drive vehicles to gauge performance.
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Utilize maintenance software package to ensure work orders are updated and service records are tracked.
• Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the shop.

Required Qualifications:

· Organizational skills.

· Knowledge of diesel engine components.

· IT and diagnostic skills.

· Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.

· Attention to detail.

· Good interpersonal skills.

· Excellent verbal communication skills.

· Analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.

· Must possess a valid DL license

· Ability to lift to 50 pounds

· Excellent reading and writing skills

· ASE Diesel Certification an asset

Preferred Qualifications:

· 3 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic

· Understanding of basic hydraulic systems.

• Experience in the transportation industry
• Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish) a plus.
• Experience working in fast-paced, high turnover environments.
• Knowledgeable in DOT, OSHA, and safety compliance.
• Team player capable of building partnerships with the organization’s support teams.
