Duties
- Lead safe and effective therapeutic horseback riding sessions tailored to each participant’s abilities and goals.
- Develop customized lesson plans that incorporate sports-specific training techniques, physical education principles, and behavior management strategies.
- Foster a supportive environment by communicating clearly with clients, parents, caregivers, and team members to ensure progress and safety.
- Maintain the safety of riders by overseeing proper riding techniques, equipment use, and horse handling procedures.
- Incorporate activities that enhance coordination, strength, balance, and confidence using various sports coaching methods such as soccer drills or climbing exercises when appropriate.
- Monitor participant progress and adapt instruction to meet individual needs while encouraging motivation and engagement.
- Ensure all sessions adhere to safety protocols including AED operation and first aid/CPR procedures; document incidents or concerns thoroughly.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children and familiarity with behavior management techniques.
- Demonstrated sports coaching experience in activities such as soccer coaching, basketball, cheerleading, martial arts (karate or judo), climbing, or gymnastics.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Certification in first aid and CPR; AED operation certification preferred.
- Background in physical education teaching or sports team leadership is highly desirable.
- Experience with lifeguard duties or swimming is a plus for water safety awareness.
- Knowledge of health club or gym environments along with experience working with students in active settings enhances your fit for this role.
