About the Opportunity
The Encompass Group is proud to be partnering with a well-established and growing mechanical contracting organization in the Indianapolis area that is looking for a sharp, analytical Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This group delivers mechanical projects from early concept through successful handoff, with a strong emphasis on quality, innovation, and teamwork.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Jump into pre-bid meetings and job walks to fully understand project scope
- Build accurate, timely estimates from drawings, specs, schedules, and discussions
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to gather pricing and scope input
- Perform detailed takeoffs and analyze schedules for manpower impacts
- Lead scope reviews, value engineering conversations, and internal estimate reviews
- Support RFPs and interviews with confident presentations and sales-minded insight
- Track bids, manage turnovers, and collaborate closely with project teams
- Help improve estimating tools, metrics, and processes over time
- Build strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
What You Bring
- Background in mechanical construction estimating or a closely related role
- Education in construction management, engineering, applied science, or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Comfort with estimating and construction tech (Excel, estimating software, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.)
- Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation-ready
- Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and deadline discipline
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and collaborative when the pressure’s on

- Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Obtain accurate quotes for materials and systems to establish accurate cost estimates
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Familiarity with blueprints and ability to read plans
- 3 years' of construction experience preferred
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
