ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY
EdTrust seeks a Digital Intern to join the Communications team for Fall/Winter 2026. The Digital intern will support EdTrust’s Communications division to help with various tasks from the digital team, which includes social media, the website, and e-newsletter. Duties will include planning, preparing, create, and schedule social media content (including video), helping publish content on the website, as well and other general duties as assigned. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative individual who is interested in learning the components of how a high-performing digital team functions.

This role, available immediately, is based in our Washington, DC office and is part time (25 hours/week) for less than 6 months (dates and hours negotiable). Interns must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia during the internship and report to the EdTrust office within three (3) days of hire for employment verification. They must also be available to come into the office at least two days a week. The intern reports to the Editorial Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Help plan, schedule, and create social media calendar and content
· Help manage media lists and track media placements
· Help tag and prepare content for website publishing
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Shared belief in EdTrust’s mission and a commitment to improving education equity with a focus on racial equity
· Organizational skills (knowledge of project management software like Asana a plus)
· Social media content creation experience and knowledge of various platforms and trends
· Some experience with creating graphics through tools like Adobe or Canva
· Basic video editing capabilities on Adobe or CapCut
· Some experience with content management systems (CMS) on web, email, and social platforms like Hootsuite, Sprout Social, WordPress, Wix, Mailchimp, or other similar platforms (or willingness to learn)
· Experience with the Microsoft Office suite
· Teamwork skills and an eagerness for collaboration
· Problem-solving abilities
· Willingness to receive and act upon constructive feedback
· Continuous learner
COMPENSATION
The pay for this role ranges from $19/hr for undergraduate students and recent grads to $21-24/hr for graduate students and $25-30 for doctoral students. To maintain equity within our intern pay scale, we do not negotiate on intern pay rates; pay rates for internships are primarily determined based on level of education. Sick leave is accrued in this role.
