Process Scientist

Our client, a growing global nutraceutical company, is seeking a Process Scientist to leverage process and sensor data enabling understanding, optimization, and continuous improvement in manufacturing performance. This role focuses on analyzing production line data to identify variability, root causes, and improvement opportunities, and then translating these insights into implemented process changes that enhance efficiency, quality, reduce cost, and ensure robustness of operations. This Scientist is part of our Technology Hub and together with his/her colleagues will work closely with stakeholders in Manufacturing and R&D.
Responsibilities:
· Analyze process, equipment, and sensor data using advanced statistical and analytical methods and tools to identify trends, variability, and root causes.
· Develop and apply data-driven models to identify process optimization, yield improvement, cost reduction, capability improvement, and other performance prediction.
· Develop usage of Grafana and similar for decision making.
· Lead hands-on investigations and improvement initiatives, translating analytical insights into implemented and sustained changes on the production line.
· Support new product development and scale-up activities from a scientific and manufacturing perspective, ensuring robust and data-driven process design.
· Design and execute experiments (e.g. DoE) to validate hypotheses, confirm improvements, and support process characterization.
· Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Maintenance to ensure robust implementation of process changes.
· Monitor process performance and stability using statistical process control and advanced monitoring techniques.
· Document analyses, recommendations, and implemented improvements in line with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
· Support digitalization and continuous improvement initiatives related to process data, sensors, and analytics capabilities.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Thermodynamic, Data Science or related (Master’s preferred)
· Minimum of 3 years relevant process engineering experience. Relevant experience may include operational plant engineering, or engineering projects at an engineering firm, or project design, execution and start-up at equipment or installation supplier
· Proven experience as a process scientist, process engineer, or similar role in a manufacturing environment
· Strong data science and advanced analytics capabilities, including statistical analysis, modeling, and working with large process and sensor data sets
· Hands-on experience applying analytics to real production processes, leading to measurable improvements in yield, cost, quality, or robustness
· Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, process control, and scale-up from development to production
· Experience supporting new product development and technology transfer from a scientific and production perspective
· Proficient in data analysis tools and languages
· Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to work effectively with scientists, engineers, operators, automation, and quality teams
